The Lifeguard Training Courses for the 2026 pool season will be offered starting in January 2026.
The course teaches the skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. Courses include first aid, AED training, water rescue skills, and CPR for professional rescuers. After successful completion of the course, the individual will be a certified lifeguard that can apply for a position with the City of Henderson.
Seven course dates are offered in 2026 on both weekend and weekdays.
- December 20th, 22nd, and 23rd
- January 17th through January 19th
- February 14th through February 16th
- March 13th through March 15th
- April 6th through April 10th
- May 4th through May 7th (*this course will be offered in the evening)
- May 15th through May 17th
The estimated time required to complete all course objectives:
- 6 hours of online pre-work must be completed prior to attending the first class. Participants will be sent the link to complete the work via email.
- Prerequisites will be performed on the first date of class. If participants are unable to complete the pre-work on time or unable to demonstrate the prerequisites for the first date of class it will be an automatic non-pass per the American Red Cross.
- 21 hours of combined classroom and water training
Applicants are asked to come prepared with swim attire, a water bottle, and snacks for each day of class.
